(June 26, 1998) "Hunting down a dangerous intruder." College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Science Report. Professor C. W. Kaspar and graduate students Kathy Bartlett and Jack Shere hunted for E. coli O157:H7 on dairy farms in Wisconsin to learn where the pathogen lives on the farms and how it's transferred.
(June 1998) FRI receives NFPA Food Safety Award: The first Food Safety Award from the National Food Processors Association was awarded to FRI on August 19, 1998, in Nashville, at the annual meeting of the International Association of Milk, Food and Environmental Sanitarians. The award recognizes an individual, group or organization with a long history of outstanding contribution to food safety research and education.

(April 1997) AWARD: Amy Wong receives Pound Research Award: Wong's work with enterotoxins and biofilms earned this food microbiologist a Pound Research Award for 1997. Her record of research accomplishment ranges from basic (protein purification and characterization) to applied (development of assay methodologies, control of biofilms).
